The Latest Round of FP7 Calls
Release posted: 31 July 2009 The long-awaited next round of FP7 (Seventh Framework Programme) calls were released yesterday (30 July 2009). This includes the €63 000 000 FP7 Africa call (FP7-AFRICA-2010), which covers the following FP7 themes: Health; Food, Agriculture and Fisheries, and Biotechnology; Environment (including Climate Change). Of the total budget, €39 000 000 is drawn from Theme 1 - Health; €6 500 000 from Theme 2 - Food, Agriculture and Fisheries, and Biotechnology; and €17 500 000 from Theme 6 - Environment (including Climate Change). Please note: The budget for this call is indicative and the final budget may vary by up to 10% of the indicative budget. According to the call's outline, "The aim of this Call is to address some of the Science & Technology objectives of the "Africa-EU Strategic Partnership" putting emphasis on 'Water and Food Security' and 'Better Health for Africa'." More than 50 new calls were published under the Cooperation and Capacities specific programmes of FP7 in this round of calls. Researchers and research institutions from Africa are encouraged to explore ways to participate in the latest published FP7 calls as a means to broaden their networks, gain access to state-of-the-art research facilities, and augment their expertise through international collaboration opportunities. For more information, potential applicants are encouraged to source the available National Contact Points in their home country or regional NCP training projects, such as INCONTACT or HEALTH-NCP-NET.
