Summary
This report is one of a total four to be produced under Task 1.7. Each report will detail the outcomes of the meetings of the so-called "SSA Project Network", which was first convened in 2008.

The purpose of this first meeting was to create the forum for the coordinators of projects funded under FP6 and FP7 aimed at trans-border cooperation to meet and find areas in which synergies might be sought. The meeting was chaired by Nadia Meyer of Germany's Projektträger im Deutschen Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt (the PT-DLR). Presentations were delivered by representatives of the following projects:

• INTERLINK - Promoting International Cooperation for Environmental Research through Dissemination and Networking Activities

• HEALTH NCP-NET - Coordination Action for Reinforcing the Health National Contact Points Network
• INCONTACT - Network of the INCO-NCPs
• MIRA - Mediterranean Innovation and Research Coordination Action (delivered by Rafael Rodriguez-Clemente)
• EuroAfriCa-ICT - Connecting the EU and Subaharan Africa for ICT Partnerships
• IST-AFRICA - IST-Africa 2008-2009, Regional Impact of Information Society Technologies in Africa
• CPN AFRICA - Contact Point Network to attract young African Scientists to participate in EU-funded Research Programmes on PRD

The group of coordinators discussed the shared challenges of conducting their projects and agreed to find ways to share information, experience and best practice. The next meeting is to be held in 2009.
