Europe-Africa Networking and Brokerage Event
Release posted: 27 October 2009
The Network for the Coordination and Advancement of Sub-Saharan Africa-EU Science and Technology Cooperation (CAAST-Net) are organising a networking and brokerage event in conjunction with the 2009 Southern Africa Nordic Centre (SANORD) Conference: Inclusion and Exclusion in Higher Education to be held at Rhodes University in Grahamstown, South Africa from 7-9 December.
The event will centre on the FP7-ICT-2009-6 call to be published in late November, 2009, under the European Union's Seventh Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development (FP7).
Topics to be covered include the various opportunities for collaborative research under FP7, the various bilateral and multilateral funding instruments supporting FP7, and the role of networking within FP7.
Other bilateral and multilateral instruments that support collaborative research between Europe and Africa will also be presented.
After the presentations, there will be an informal, thematic cocktail session allowing participants to establish connections based on their research interests.
Parallel sessions, during the SANORD conference, are also being organised by potential project leaders to facilitate collaborative planning, such as the formation of consortia, in order to respond to the FP7-ICT-2009-6 call.
The event aims to bring networks, researchers, private sector representatives and funders together to create mutually beneficial partnerships.
It also offers the unique opportunity for organisations to learn more about the FP7 ICT thematic area, and to create working partnerships in order to address the November call.
For further information on the event, please contact David Korpela of UniPID (david.korpela@jyu.fi).
