CAAST-Net Mobility Workshop in Brussels
2 February 2009
CAAST-Net's Work Package 1 has as one of its deliverables the compilation of an inventory of opportunities for African researchers to access the FP7 mobility and training instruments under the so-called "People" programme - deliverable 1.2.3.
Furthermore Work Package 5 is also tasked with promoting African participation in the FP7 "People" programme and one of its deliverables is to organise a workshop to consider barriers to such participation - deliverable 5.3.
The inventory of opportunities is currently in the process of being finalised and will be presented for discussion at the workshop, to be organised in Brussels on 24 March 2009.
The full-day event will include a presentation of the relevant CAAST-Net reports and analyses, as well as input from European Commission officials responsible for the People programme.
Invited participants will include representatives from both African and European research organisations with an interest in and experience of Framework Programme mobility cooperation between Africa and Europe. Success stories will be presented.
The objective of the workshop will be to obtain the comment of participants to inform a CAAST-Net report on recommendations on how to ensure a better African take-up of the FP7 "People" opportunities.
All CAAST-Net members would be welcome to attend - the final agenda and workshop documentation will be disseminated by the end of February 2009.
It is noted that the date of 24 March 2009 has been chosen in order to ensure the attendance of relevant stakeholders and experts, who will in any event be in Brussels for the EuroAfrica-ICT Forum on 25 and 26 March 2009.
